Sometimes called Basic GAP, this audit verifies that a food safety program is in place to minimize the risk of microbial contamination of fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts. See the checklist for the audit sections.

As you progress from GAP >HarmonizedGAP >Harmonized GAP Plus+, each audit aligns with other requirements, and increases in detail. The Harmonized GAP audit is aligned with FSMA's Produce Safety Rule. Harmonized GAP Plus+ is additionally aligned with the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) technical equivalency benchmarking requirements.

Certified Organic Inspections are conducted by private, USDA accredited certifying agents. A grower prepares an Organic Systems Plan, completes the application, and is inspected annually.
